Folk singers Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan perform as the Milk Carton Kids, a duo known for their flat-picking guitar style and close harmonies. They will combine their formidable talents with singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Sarah Jarosz at Kentucky Center's Bomhard Theater next Thursday night, October 30 at 8 p.m.
The show is touted as a collaborative performance around a single microphone with the three singers joined by a trio of equally fine instrumentalists: violinist Alex Hargreaves, cellist Nathaniel Smith, and bassist Paul Kowert. Kowert graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia in 2009, only a year behind fellow graduate and current Louisville Orchestra Music Director, Teddy Abrams.
The Milk Carton Kids are Grammy-nominated artists who appeared in the TBone Burnett/Coen Brothers concert film documentary, "Another Day/Another Time: Celebrating the Music of 'Inside Llewyn Davis.'" Jarosz's latest release, "Build Me Up From Bones," was nominated for 2014 Grammy Awards for both Best Folk Album and Best Americana album. She is also a recent graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music.
If you didn't catch their performance on a recent episode of Austin City Limits, you can get a taste of what to expect in the video posted below.
Tickets are $35 for this All Ages show. Contact the Kentucky Center box office at 1.800.775.7777 or buy tickets online.
