A couple Saturdays ago, I was able to somehow convince Headliners that I was supposed to be there, as my tickets were mistakenly omitted from ‘will call’, and much to my delight both acts delivered pure greatness on a steamy night when most reggae advocates likely opted for Reggae Festival at the Waterfront.
Having broken my toe the night before, I opted to get there early and was absolutely blown away by the energy of opening act Nic Cowan and his band. They delivered a truly spectacular set chock full of originals and even sprinkled in some Marley. Following their vibrant coaxing of the crowd, Franti came out with a bang! The crowd was pleasantly eclectic, albeit more clean-cut than I would’ve expected, but as predicted the vibe and the performance was nothing but positively optimistic, loving goodness.
Yes, I am fully aware that Mr. Franti, Spearhead, and Nic Cowan graced our lovely city over a week ago, as noted, but I wanted to couple this review with WFPK’s interview with Franti TONIGHT! I highly advise tuning in to ‘The Weekly Feed w/ Kyle Meredith’, at 8 pm, and hearing him drop further knowledge in a bit more of a subdued setting. Although I’d much rather prefer another round of sweating positivity…but then most think I’m insane anyway.
