About six months ago, The Root Cellar opened on the corner of Third and Hill Streets in Old Louisville. Since then, Ron Smith, who owns the small shop, has provided the residents of the neighborhood with the freshest possible eggs, milk, meat, and produce. All foods sold at The Root Cellar come from farms in the surrounding area, providing a cozy, friendly place to easily buy and eat local.
Tomorrow, Saturday the 12th, some of the providers of this wonderful food will be at the store from 1:00-3:00 pm:
+The producers of JD Country milk
+Jay King from Ridge Acres farm, who will be bringing along live turkeys, chickens, and ducks
+Eric Osborne from Magnificent Mushrooms
Talking to the direct producers of what you eat brings you even closer to your food; you know exactly where it comes from and who has handled it and what went into it. This is locavore eating at its most pure and basic.
The Root Cellar is located at 1484 S. Third Street.
