Conditioner Ben Cecil scratched Medaglia d'Amour from Friday evening's $2 million Breeders' Cup Ladies' Classic at Churchill Downs. The 5-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro, owned by Kristina Cecil and Zillah Reddam, developed a fever.

"We scratched her this morning, because she had a 102 temperature," announced Ben Cecil. "She coughed a couple of times, too, so we can't run her like that."

Patrick Valenzuela was scheduled to be in the irons.
