Feeding the Hungry:  Dare to Care!

On Thanksgiving Eve, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer lead a candlelight march to the site on Eddy Street where 9 year-old Bobby Ellis starved to death 45 years ago—the day before Thanksgiving. Nicki Ellis, Bobby’s grieving sister walked with Mayor Fischer and she thanked the approximately two hundred activists assembled near 21st Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard for remembering her brother and for their work to alleviate hunger in the community. The annual Hunger Walk is sponsored by Interfaith Paths to Peace and the Dare to Care Food Bank  to advance the mission of leading the community to feed the hungry.  Last year, Dare to Care distributed 15 million meals to those in need through over 300 local service agencies.  Mayor Fischer has lead the Hunger Walk each year since he became  Mayor of Metro Louisville.
