    The 2009 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction, scheduled for November 5 in the Grand Ballroom of the Galt House Hotel & Suites is a gourmet sampling feast served by some of Louisville’s most prestigious chefs and restaurants.  The event gets underway at 6:00 p.m., along with a silent auction.

    A live auction featuring unique dining packages offered by participating “Signature Chefs” will begin at 8:00 p.m. The event, honoring John Conti, is filled with food, local celebrities, and an auction filled with unique experiences.  For the event the March of Dimes has partnered with Kentucky Proud to encourage people to eat locally.
                                               
    This year’s event, co-chaired by J.P. Davis and Barry Wooley, highlights local business man and philanthropist John Conti as Honorary Chair. Over the past 47 years, coffee purveyor John Conti has grown his business from a small garage operation to a national brand. We are pleased to honor Mr. Conti at the Chefs Auction—not only for the success of his company, but also for his many charitable contributions to our local community. He and his wife Janet have been instrumental in advancing the health of Kentucky’s children through involvement in Kosair Children’s Hospital Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the March of Dimes.

    This year’s Ambassador family is that of Chef Joshua Moore of Volare Italian Ristorante. As Lead Chef, Chef Joshua will be joined by over twenty local restaurants such as Asiatique Restaurant, Atria Senior Living, BLU Italian Grille, Bourbons Bistro, Bucks Restaurant, Centerplate Concessions & Catering, Corbett’s Restaurant, The English Grill at the Brown Hotel, Jack Fry’s Restaurant, Lilly’s Restaurant, Limestone Restaurant, Maker’s Mark Bourbon House & Lounge, Martini Italian Bistro, Mitchell’s Fish Market, Pendennis Club, Porcini Restaurant, RIVUE Restaurant & Lounge, Saffron’s Persian Restaurant, Varanese Restaurant, Vincenzo’s Italian Restaurant,  The White Oak Restaurant,  and Z’s Fusion Restaurant.

    Some of the celebrity hosts of the evening include John Asher, Shari Baughman, Roger Burkman, Chase Cain, Denny Crum and Susan Sweeney Crum, Drew Diener, Mel and Ron Fisher, Francene, Jennifer Hoffman from “Amazing Race,” Kelly K and Ben Davis, Eric King, Kathi Lincoln, Lori Lyle, Janelle McDonald, Vicki Rogers, Julie Smith, Cindi Sullivan, Elizabeth Woolsey, and many more!

    Over 600 people are expected to attend the 2009 March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction. Patron tables with preferred seating for 10, are available for a donation of $2,500 ($2,150 is tax deductible), as well as individual tickets for $200 ($165 is tax deductible).  Cocktail attire is, of course, suggested.

    This year will feature a “Star-Studded After Party” at Volare Italian Ristorante (2300 Frankfort Avenue) at 10:00 p.m. Guests can meet the chefs and culinary talents behind the food, and enjoy live entertainment and drink specials. The event is free for Signature Chef guests, and $25 at the door for the general public.
