    Bit to Do

A new development and play support group called Playing to Grow just started April 13 at the community driven parenting center, Mama's Hip in the Highlands. It's a 90 minute workshop that will help parents identify developmental milestones, age-appropriate goals, and behavioral strategies that can be applied in day-to-day life. It is designed for parents with children ages 12-36 months.

As parents, we all tend to nervously check the typical pediatrician's chart of developmental milestones and worry how our child is keeping up. We fall into the patterns of wondering what activities and strategies to use to help our child succeed. And every parent does this, we are not alone. This new group session at Mama's Hip will include structured activities and feedback from a Board Certified Behavior Analyst as well as free play and the opportunity for parents to engage in open discussion and peer support.

It is a drop-in class, so no registration is required. The fee is $10 per family or you can activate a Mama's Hip Class Card; find out more about that option here.

The leader of the class is Coury M. Brady. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst in Louisville, KY. According to the Facebook event page, "Coury received her Undergraduate Degree in Psychology in 2011 from Spalding University as well as her Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2012. She obtained Board Certification in 2013 and is currently pursuing in state licensure. She has provided services to individuals diagnosed with Autism and other developmental disorders ranging in age from 5 years old – 70 years old in a multitude of settings including in home and in the community." Coury is also the mother to a 15-month-old, so she's definitely in the know.
