Walden Theatre opens its season with a tale of love, crossroads, and painful decisions in this weekend's Summer and Smoke.

Summer and Smoke will take place Sept. 19-21 and 26-28 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Matinees will happen on Sept. 21 and 28 at 2 p.m. each day. All performances are to go on at Walden Theatre, located at 1123 Payne Street in the Highlands.

Tickets for each evening shows are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $10 for students. Matinee shows are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $8 for students. All tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling 502-589-0084.

Summer and Smoke features two people with varying attitudes toward life. One person has a puritan set of ideas while the other one is nowhere near as rigid. Despite the different beliefs, they are still attracted to each other. Can they overcome their differences and become one?

Tennessee Williams created the production, which Charlie Sexton directed for Walden Theatre.

Following Summer and Smoke, Walden Theatre will present Six Characters in Search of an Author. That production will take place in October.
