
Basketball season is just around the corner and the Derby city features several of the nation's top prospects. Here is a look at the top 25 players for the upcoming season.
1. Zach Price 6-10 Sr. C Jeffersontown
Price, who transfered from Ohio, is currently ranked as the No. 72 player in the nation according to Rivals.com. He had committed to play for Rick Pitino at the University of Louisville.
2. Ryan Taylor 6-6 Sr. F Western
Taylor, another University of Louisville commit, is also one of the nation's top prospects. He is currently ranked as the No. 113 player in the nation according to Rivals.com. He transfered in from Indianapolis.
3. Tony Kimbro 6-5 Sr. F Jeffersontown
Kimbro played at duPont Manual his freshman season, before deciding to transfer to Christ School in North Carolina, where he played his sophomore and junior seasons. In May he decided to transfer back to Louisville and play for the Chargers. Kimbro currently has scholarship offers from Oklahoma State and Virginia Tech.
4. Remy Abell 6-3 Sr. CG Eastern
Abell averaged 14 points per game last season. He recently committed to play for Bradley University.
5. Kameron Woods 6-7 Sr. F Eastern
Woods entered the summer with no scholarship offers. By July he had racked up 13 scholarship offers. In August he committed to play for Butler University.
6. Jermaine Jackson 6-4 Sr. G/F Iroquois
Jackson was one of the city's top scorers last season, pouring in 25 points per game. He currently has offers from IUPUI and Missouri State.
7. Lyonell Gaines 6-5 Sr. F Eastern
Gaines averaged nearly 14 points per game last season. He recently committed to play for IUPUI.
8. Kevin Shaw 6-2 Sr. G Seneca
Shaw doesn't hold any scholarship offers at this point but several schools are showing interest.
9. Mekale McKay 6-3 Jr. G Moore
McKay emerged as one the city's top players after strong showing in the Derek Smith Shootout and several AAU events. He is also a standout on the Mustang football team.
10. DeOndre McWhorter 6-8 Sr. F/C Moore
McWhorter still needs to work on his offensive game but his presence on defensive makes him one of the city's top players. He blocked 200 shots last season.
11. Devon Rowan 6-8 Jr. F/C North Oldham
12. Arman Marks 6-3 Sr. G Eastern
13. Nathan Dieudonne 6-6 Jr. F Trinity
14. Desmond Brown 6-0 Sr. G Central
15. Walter Alexander 6-4 Sr. F Seneca
16. Hayden Sweat 6-0 Sr. G Bullitt East'
17. Desmond Dorsey 6-2 Jr. G Jeffersontown
18. Charles Foster 6-0 Jr. G Trinity
19. Jalen Wesson 5-9 Jr. PG Butler
20. Chad McDowell 6-4 Sr. F Pleasure Ridge Park
