“Run mad as often as you choose, but never faint.”
If you recognize that quote, you probably also recognize where it came from - Jane Austen’s Mansfield Park . You may also know Mansfield Park as one of her more controversial novels, and one that divides her fans solidly down a line of “love it” or “hate it.” Tomorrow afternoon, Louisville’s own will continue their monthly events in this 200th year since the publication of Mansfield Park with a game of Jane Austen trivia - how many Mansfield Park questions can you answer?
The whole group divides up into teams for a (highly competitive) game of "Dear Diary" trivia in which groups have to determine which character spoke a certain quote.
The monthly meetings of the Jane Austen Society focus on a particular topic, and a list of all the upcoming meetings . There isn’t any dress code, so don’t worry about dressing like the people in the photo above - members save that for special occasions, like the upcoming this July.
If you’ve ever wanted to connect with other Austenites and listen to some good discussions on any number of topics pertaining not just to Austen’s works, but also to the Regency period in general, then come on by - the meetings are held once monthly at Locust Grove, located at 501 Blankenbaker Lane. The meetings begin at 2 p.m., and generally last until 4 p.m.
Along with the game, there will be tea and light refreshments served - who could go through such a heated game of trivia without them?
