Another Louisvillian will be hitting the television airwaves tonight, but this time she’s ten! Ten-year-old Anna Cambron, who is a student at Noe Middle School, will be competing on the classic television game show Jeopardy tonight. Cambron is one of 15 ten-to-twelve year olds who were chosen to compete on the show during “Kids Week.”

Jeopardy, which is self-acclaimed as “America’s favorite quiz show,” has an audience of approximately 25 million viewers every week. The show has received 29 Emmy awards and has secured a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most awards won by a TV game show.

Jeopardy promotes learning and celebrates the education of our youth by hosting “Kids Week,” where young students are given a chance to show off what they know. The 15 students that will be seen on the show this week were chosen from almost 9,000 others who hoped to secure a spot in the competition. Once the 15 contestants were chosen, they reported to Sony Pictures Studios in California for the episodes to be taped. The episodes were taped in early March, but “Kids Week” actually begins tonight as the episodes will air tonight through Friday.

The contestants that were chosen are from all over the country. Cambron is the only contestant chosen that calls Kentucky her home. However, 11-year-old Alex Johnson, an Indianapolis resident, will also appear on the show this week.

Time in the spotlight isn’t all Cambron and Johnson are playing for. The winner of each Jeopardy game is guaranteed a minimum of $15,000. The contestant who places second will win $2,000 and the contestant who places third will earn $1,000. That’s a lot of money, especially when you’re 10!

Make sure you tune in tonight at 7:30 p.m. on WLKY-TV.
