Louisville Zoo to Debut Baby Pygmy Hippo
    Print this page

A male baby pygmy hippo born at the Louisville zoo last month will make his public debut tomorrow, Friday, September 25. If all goes well, the zoo plans for him to be visible each day from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Hippo Falls. You can sneak a peek at the little guy with his mother on the Louisville Zoo’s Facebook page.

The hippo birth was the result of a planned breeding program with parents Hope and Maji. Starting Monday, September 29, the Zoo plans to hold a naming contest on its website. The Zoo will then select three finalists, and the public will vote on them on site by making donations during the month of October.

The person who submits the winning hippo name will win a prize that includes a very special hippo experience.
