Kyle Elmore is the Founder of White Picket Real Estate, run through the Keller Williams Louisville East Brokerage. How did he get to his current position? It wasn't a straight path, that's for sure.

Growing up, Elmore always had a passion for housing and real estate. However, he always had his mind set on big corporation jobs and never slowed down to reflect on where his life was quickly heading. Elmore studied at Western Kentucky University (WKU) and graduated with a major in public relations and a minor in marketing. Elmore started out working at the Kentucky Bankers Association (KBA), a group that strives to advocate for the financial services industry at the state as well as national level. Elmore stayed with the KBA for five years, but saw no opportunities for advancement, so he was off to find a new niche. Soon after, he landed a job with a healthcare finance startup company in Indiana. Elmore thought he would like it, but he was miserable. He worked there for over a year before realizing it wasn't for him. “I realized that I wanted to be in Louisville, doing something I love and something that I can make a difference with," says Elmore.

During this time of uncertainty, Elmore took a weekend trip out to Red River Gorge with his family, and in the midst of nature, he took a step back to reflect on where he was in life. After contemplating various business opportunities in Louisville, he decided to return to his old passion, real estate.

In Spring 2015, Elmore launched White Picket Real Estate with the motto, “helping home happen.” Still looking for a way to make a positive impact in Louisville, Elmore found inspiration from a sermon about giving back - and jotted down an email to himself.

The email said: “give 5% to end homelessness.”

That next Monday, Elmore spent hours in Quills Coffee searching the Internet for just the right homeless advocacy organization with which to collaborate; it was then he found Coalition for the Homeless. Soon after, Elmore met with Catherine McGeeney, Director of Development at the Coalition for the Homeless, and formed a partnership. Going forward, White Picket would donate 5% of all transactions to Coalition for the Homeless.

This fantastic collaboration is in full swing after last week’s kickoff fundraiser, and it is the result of Elmore’s path towards realizing his dream.
