Music! The language of the soul! Although opinions as to what is good and what is terrible differ mightily (and who among us doesn’t judge other people by the sort of music they listen to, at least a little?) one would be hard-pressed to find somebody who doesn’t like music at all. What better way to delve deeper into this world than by viewing some of the greats on a gigantic screen while their music comes to your ears via one of the best sound systems in the world?
The Louisville Science Center IMAX presents (the rather wordily titled) “All Access: Front Row. Backstage. LIVE!” which opened yesterday in conjunction with their new exhibit, “GUITAR: The Instrument Which Rocked the World.” As the title of the film suggests, it features up-close footage of concerts by fifteen musicians, while it also gives viewers a behind the scenes look at the musicians and what exactly goes into producing a mega-concert.
Featuring performances and interviews with Santana, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews, Al Green, George Clinton, B.B. King, Moby, Rob Thomas, Mary J. Blige, Kid Rock, Macy Gray, The Roots, Trey Anastasio, and Cheb Mami, there is something here for everyone.
There is no word yet on how long “All Access” will be playing at the IMAX Theater, but it will be there for at least a couple of months. It is the perfect opportunity to get out of the cold, pick up some popcorn at the recently pimped out concessions stand, and get some education about the world of music and concerts.
