The University of Louisville baseball team is making their second career appearance in the College World Series; the biggest tournament in college baseball also welcomes another area school in the University of Indiana.
The tournament, meant to pit the best eight teams in college baseball against each other to crown a champion is annually held in Omaha, the city of college baseball team wants to get to come this time of year.
The tournament starts Saturday when Mississippi State squares off with Oregon State, Saturday at 3. This come is followed by the Cards and Hoosiers ironically going head to head at 8, the winner to take on the winner of the earlier game.
The following day on Sunday games resume at 3, for another rivalry game in North Carolina and NC State, this game is followed at 8 by UCLA and LSU, all games will be broadcasted live on ESPN or ESPN2.
Like the Cards’ basketball teams, the baseball team has been adorned with a new post season uniform, these new uniforms are reminiscent of the retro jerseys of the Houston Astros; feelings have been mixed regarding them but personally if I can editorialize I actually the throwback nature.
Louisville enters the tourney after defeating Vanderbilt in a two game series during the NCAA Super Regional in Nashville.
The Cards and Hoosiers have met twice in the regular season, once in Florida and once in Bloomington, but both times the Hoosiers claimed the win, of course post-seasons in any sport are unpredictable.
Indiana has made their way to Omaha after beating Florida State in Tallahassee in their own two-game Super Regional series.
