For Louisvillians, we can all agree that our city is one of the most flourishing and engaging cities to live in. However, National Geographic recognized Louisville in their December/January issue of the National Geographic Traveler magazine as one of its “Best of the World” destinations.

Not only do we think our city is awe-inspiring, but according to magazine spokeswoman Anna Irwin, the “best of” locations are based on the editors’ selection that current activities in Louisville make it worth considering for a visit. According to Courier Journal, the article showcases Louisville’s expanding bourbon district along Main Street along with the Urban Bourbon Trail.

From National Geographic’s “Drives of a Lifetime” series, Louisville was listed as one of 500 of the world’s most spectacular trips, thanks to our impressive Bourbon Trail. As quoted in the article, “In this Central Kentucky is bourbon country. Its rolling meadows, limestone-filtered streams, and cool hardwood forests have long provided ideal conditions for producing the honey-colored drink as crucial to Kentucky legend as Daniel Boone himself.”

National Geographic’s Traveler December/January can be found in stores now and also be subscribed to at National Geographic’s website.
