Last year Outskirts Festival made headlines for a creating an artistic environment to spotlight women (and girls) in music. The concerts featured local, regional and national artists. Outskirts is back this year October 9-11, and this morning the festival announced its initial lineup. An added bonus is that all shows this year are open all ages.
The lineup so far includes (non-Louisville bands are noted):

Performances this year will take place at The New Vintage and the Art Sanctuary. Tickets for the whole weekend of music are selling now for $35. You can also get tickets for individual days for $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the show.
Last year’s festival included 23 bands, so be on the look out for more lineup announcements. With such support, it’s bound to get bigger this year, right?
This year’s Outskirts will also feature the rockshops for girls that were so well received last year. The rockshops will be held on the mornings and afternoons of October 10-11, and participants can start signing up in the first week of August.
Outskirts Festival would like to note that "When we talk about women, that includes trans women, cis women and gender non-conforming individuals. We seek to challenge gender inequality by creating a movement and community that's relevant to anyone who feels excluded from mainstream norms. We want collaboration, inspiration and community!"
