The Louisville Orchestra will be performing a celebratory dedication to John Williams in honor of his 75th birthday which occurred this year.  Two performances of this concert will take place.  The first concert is on Thursday, September 20th, 6:30 PM at the Brown Theatre.  The second performance is on Saturday, September 22nd, 7:30 PM at the Ogle Center (IUS).  These two performances are part of the Brown-Forman NightLites Series. 

The Brown-Forman NightLites Series explores the lighter side of classical music by bringing to life a variety of themes.  The series provides an easy introduction to classical music by utilizing well known themes such as Broadway tunes, movie scores, or even something as simple as the most popular ring-tones you hear everywhere you go.  Who knew some of those ring-tones had a bit of class?

Bob Bernhardt will be conducting both performances which pay tribute to his good fri/files/storyimages/John Williams whose career as a composer for some of the biggest films ever to be created is unparalleled.  The Louisville Orchestra will be performing John Williams’ film greats such as Raiders of the Lost Arc, Jaws, Harry Potter, Superman, Saving Private Ryan, and the Imperial March from Star Wars.

Bob Bernhardt, Principal Pops Conductor, celebrates his 26th anniversary with the Louisville Orchestra this season.  Maestro Bernhardt continues to bring his unique combination of easy style, infectious enthusiasm and wonderful musicianship to the city and orchestra he loves.  In 1981, he accepted the post of Assistant Conductor and has worked with the Louisville Orchestra in every season since.

John Towner Williams is an American composer, conductor and pianist. In a career that spans six decades, Williams has composed many of the most famous film scores in history, including those for Jaws, Star Wars, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, and Harry Potter. In addition, he has composed theme music for four Olympic Games, numerous television series and concert pieces. He served as the principal conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra from 1980 to 1993, and is now the orchestra's laureate conductor.
