Since their introduction in August before the Louisville Biggest Loser casting call, "Lou"sers Christi and Samantha have been working hard to complete their next fitness goal. Despite minor fitness setbacks, like illness, the pair has been training consistently with an interval program that alternates segments of running and walking to prepare for the Biggest Loser 5k road race in Myrtle Beach, SC this Saturday, September 25, 2010.

Myrtle Beach, SC is the kick-off location for NBC's Biggest Loser Event Challenge, and is the first in a series of 5k and one-mile races around the country with 16 more events to be announced for 2011. The event challenge series is designed to inspire Americans of all fitness levels to get moving. Christi plans to go to as many of those 5k events as possible. She started her training on a slightly downhill section of her neighborhood, which made her running segments a little easier, then moved to a level treadmill at the gym, and at last update, was about to begin running on pavement to really get ready for her road race this weekend.

The Myrtle Beach event will be filmed for a 2-hour Biggest Loser special to air in November.

Samantha has been following the Biggest Loser Club food menu, and while she's not losing the weight she was hoping to, she is losing weight consistently while increasing her fitness. She's been training for her 5k run on pavement. In addition to the Biggest Loser 5k, she's considering running the Louisville Race for the Cure on October 9, 2010.

Weight loss, increased fitness, and an eye on scoring a place on Season 11 with an audition uploaded to YouTube aren't the "Lou"sers' only goals. "We're so excited to meet Bob from The Biggest Loser!" says Christi.

Bob Harper, the beloved Biggest Loser trainer, will be at the race in Myrtle Beach.

"Millions of Americans watch The Biggest Loser from their homes each week and come away with a desire to get more fit," explained Bob. "The Biggest Loser Event Challenge is about transforming lives by taking the first step towards getting a friend, family member, co-worker or yourself on the path to a healthier lifestyle. Even if you've never run a step in your life, we want you to come and do something you never thought possible. Our theme, don't compete, just complete!"

Active.com will provide online registration and create training plans for the Biggest Loser Event Challenge series of races, but there's been no word yet if Louisville will be included in the series.

With a focus on moving, getting healthy, and meeting goals, The Biggest Loser has found yet another way to reach beyond prime time and change everyday lives. Check back on race day, Saturday, September 25, 2010 for Christi and Samantha's race update. In the meantime, root them on here! Leave a comment, show your support, and be inspired by these two Kentuckiana woman as they work hard to change their lives.
