What do you get when you combine Tenacious D, Spinal Tap, local musicians with wicked senses of humor and beer?

You get “Louisville is For Haters”, a tribute show by Nick Peay and the Uncommon Houseflies at The Rudyard Kipling on Saturday, October 20, at 10:00 p.m.

Singer-songwriter Nick Peay, who is also the lead singer for local band OK Zombie, will perform a one-man tribute to the over-the-top rock duo Tenacious D, which will also include short skits that will tell the stories behind the songs.

The Uncommon Houseflies will be turning their amps up to 11, donning their best British accents and paying tribute to Spinal Tap, the fictional band made famous by the 1984 mockumentary.

“This show is a reaction to the annual Halloween show called ‘Louisville is for Covers,’” said Peay, who is organizing “Haters.” “It sounds mean-spirited, but it’s really all in fun.”

Peay said those in attendance can expect a heavy dose of Tenacious D’s first album as well as a nod or two in the direction of the band’s 2006 film “The Pick of Destiny.”

Meanwhile, the Uncommon Houseflies promise to pull out as many Spinal Tap favorites as they can learn, such as “Sex Farm,” “Big Bottom” and “Stonehenge.”

Cover is $5.00 and the show starts at 10:00 p.m. at The Rudyard Kipling in Old Louisville.

And let’s be honest, how many of you have long dreamed of spending an evening in the presence of the rock gods known as Tenacious D and Spinal Tap? Come out and fulfill your destiny.
