Louisville Cardinal and New Albany High School alumnus Josh Rogers was selected in the 11th round by the New York Yankees today in the Major League Baseball's first-year player draft. As a New Albany alum, I can tell you that Southern Indiana is extremely proud of this young man, who by all accounts is both a delight on and off the field.
Rogers knew in 2011 that the Louisville Cardinals would become his home. “My decision to play at Louisville ultimately came down to the coaching staff and the chance to win,” Rogers told Prep Ball Baseball Report in 2011.
Rogers set the No. 3 ranking in innings pitched for New Albany High School with 184.0 during his time as a player from 2010-2013, barely settling behind the No. 1 ranking of 232.1 set in 1979-81. Watch this video of Rogers from a high school game.

As for his career as a Louisville Cardinal, it has been nothing short of successful. Rogers made his collegiate debut by striking out two in a perfect inning of relief at Indiana on March 19, 2014. In 2014, he closed his first collegiate season with a 3-3 record, a 3.63 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 52.0 innings pitched. As for 2015, Rogers finished the year 8-1 with a 3.36 ERA, 82 strikeouts and 25 walks.
