Original oil paintings, archival prints, and heirloom memory collages of Julie Diehl are now on display at Strandz and Threadz, 322 Vincennes Street, New Albany, Indiana, 812-945-5480. The show will continue through January 31, 2008, with all pieces available for sale.

A special Meet the Artist Reception will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, January 19th.

 “We are excited to introduce Julie’s art to the community”, said Stephanie Griffith, owner of Strandz and Threadz. “She has a unique style that is slightly impressionistic but more graphic with a strong sense of color and loose brush strokes.”

Her father, David F. Diehl, past president of Hulefeld & Associates, influenced Diehl’s love of painting and graphic design. “My Dad was a well known illustrator and graphic designer in Cincinnati,” said Diehl. “I had my first art show with him when I was in high school, it was a Father Daughter Art Show at Ursuline Academy.”

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Diehl graduated from the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 1987. Since then she has worked as a graphic designer and art director at advertising agencies and as a freelance graphic designer in Cincinnati and Louisville.

After attending the Art Academy of Cincinnati, Diehl studied painting from Roland Huston, the protege of Paul Chidlaw, a nationally know painter. Currently in Louisville, Diehl studies painting from LouAnn Iler, a much exhibited local painter and collage artist.
