I received a press release yesterday from JCPS bragging that five schools within their system had been included on the annual Newsweek list of America's best high schools. My daughter is far from high school age—she'll just start kindergarten in the fall—but I was still curious to see if any Southern Indiana schools made the list. They didn't.
I can't say I'm surprised, but it is a little disappointing. The closest Indiana high school that made it on the list is in Evansville. Granted, it was a hugely impressive #7 of 1600. The bottom line is if your child is starting high school soon and you want them to go to one of the best schools in the country, move to Louisville.
The Louisville schools that made the list were Manual (#160), Ballard (#337), Eastern (#419), Brown (#655), and Male (#1060).
