Bluegrass music fans have one last chance to immerse themselves in the International Bluegrass Music Show’s World of Bluegrass Week from Monday through Sunday, Oct. 4-10 – as Louisville hosts the event for the last time before it moves to Nashville next year.

Most of the event will be held at The Galt House Hotel and Suites. Bluegrass music is growing in popularity, according to a Simmons Market Research survey in 2003. In fact, since 2000, the research showed that bluegrass music has enjoyed a 104 percent increase in consumers.

The fans aren’t all in Kentucky, either – the IBMA has members in all 50 states and 30 countries.

The event began Oct. 4 and runs through the week.

Bluegrass fans can get in on the act beginning on Thursday, Oct. 7, when the International Bluegrass Awards Show will be held at The Kentucky Center, hosted by Alison Krauss and Dan Tyminski. The event will include live music, award presentations and this year’s inductions into the Bluegrass Hall of Honor.
