It is that time once again: June 14 and 15 comes the 2013 iteration of the Kentuckiana Pride Festival at the Belvedere in downtown Louisville, hosted by the Kentuckiana Pride Foundation and sponsored by Humana and Absolut.

The party begins on the 14th with the Pride Parade at 8 p.m., whose route goes from Preston at Market to Floyd, Main and Fifth streets. The event is free to all. After the parade, the KPF will host a Friday Night Fest at the Belvedere beginning at around 9:15, with performances by Taylor Lee, Ben-She, and closing act Mondo A Go Go.

Saturday morning, the inaugural Powered with Pride 5K Presented by Humana Vitality will have 500 runners and walkers will take on the Rugby Field in Cherokee Park at 8 a.m. At noon at the Belvedere, gates will open for the pride festival, with featured performers Sasha Gradiva, Monica Beverly Hillz and Penny Traiton from “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and Alex Newell from “Glee” taking the stage during the evening. The festival will also crown this year’s Mr. and Miss KPF, and British singer/songwriter Neon Hitch will headline the day’s performances.

Entry to the Kentuckiana Pride Festival is free for children 12 and under with accompanying adult, and $5 for everyone else. While pets are welcome at the parade, they are verboten at the festival. Bags, coolers et al will be subjected to search, and no outside alcohol will be allowed past the gates.

For more information, you may visit www.kypride.org, their Facebook and Twitter pages, and the organization’s Facebook Event page. You can also contact the Kentuckiana Pride Foundation at 502-649-4851, or through their contact page on their website.
