In an event that was surely created for people who like to play, the LEO 2009 Readers’ Choice awards is somewhat of a circus of appreciation for those who enjoy letting their hair down.

On September 24, 2009, Readers’ Choice Awards guests will find quite a unique and unusual event unfolding right before their eyes.   The River City Drum Corps will welcome guests to the event while sign spinners, belly dancers, hula-hoopers, acrobats and trapeze artists will show off their awe-inspiring and at times breathtaking talents in a variety of live performances.  The acrobatic experience will culminate in a hair-raising performance by nationally-acclaimed “hair-hanger” Chris Lemon, who has performed with the dramatic circus artists Cirque du Soleil.

Guests will enjoy food by local restaurants, along with hand-crafted brews and wine from local wineries, along with the opportunity to try their luck at one of 10 casino-style gaming tables on the upper level.  They’ll groove to the music of local indie band Weber and Louisville’s “best blues band” V-Groove—all before bringing down the house with a massive jam session by Louisville’s own Nappy Roots.

Kosair Charities will have its well-sought-after BMW on hand from its annual raffle event to benefit Kosair, and Star Duck Charities of St. Joseph Children’s Home will host a duck pond fundraiser.  Finally, one lucky winner of the evening will win a night’s stay at Horseshoe Casino Hotel.

The LEO Readers’ Choice Awards will take place from 6:00-10:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24th at The Gillespie, 421 W. Market Street.
