It's three am, and you're starving to death. Perhaps this is hyperbole. Maybe you are merely in need of some munchies. Maybe hours of studying have left you with a head full of figures and a sadly empty midsection; or you've been partying hard and sweating it out on the dance floor. Whatever the reason, if you find yourself roaming around Louisville at any hour of the day or night, in any state of soberness or...not...try to get your exhausted and starving self over to Juanita's Burger Boy.

Juanita's is a neighborhood staple. The place is small, located on 1450 South Brook Street, and open 24 hours a day. Service is friendly and pretty slow on a heavy night, but the food is top notch diner fare, cooking on the griddle behind a high counter with stools. The last time I stumbled in to Juanita's I hadn't eaten all day and I was ready to sink my fangs into the Burger Boy, a double stacked cheeseburger on a three piece bun with special sauce. The Burger Boy should have been called the Burger MAN. The breakfast fare at Juanita's is particularly good, nothing prevents a hangover like a plateful of fluffy biscuits and gravy or sunny side up eggs on top of a stomach full of tequila. Juanita's changes the soups, but the chili is probably the best. The thick, meaty stew has kind of sweet side to it, and it's thick enough to eat with a fork, hearty enough to fill you up and leave half the bowl leftover.

The best part? Juanita's is CHEAP. Not just “affordable”, not just “reasonable for what you get.” The food is downright CHEAP and comes in large, hearty servings. Cheap, convenient, and delicious, what more could you want at four in the morning?
