On January 21 and 22, prepare to experience what Cuban cuisine truly could be. On those days, Fernando Martinez is hosting two of the kings of Latin cooking for a New Cuban Food Revolution celebration at Cena, downstairs from Mussel & Burger Bar.
The first of the two star guest chefs is Chef Douglas Rodriguez, the "Godfather of Nuevo Latin cuisine," the author of several cookbooks, the recipient of many awards. The second will be Chef Reinaldo Alfonso; Alfonso, Rodriguez, and Fernando and Yaniel Martinez will each design two courses for the meal, with Pastry Chef Christian Cobos assisting.
Manager Rick Moir and Cristina Martinez will be coming up with new and innovative wine and cocktail pairings for guests. In Rick's words, "They're doing a dinner to encourage the evolution of Cuban food. if you're going to do really good, up-to-date stuff with Cuban food, this is how to do it." He adds, "Nobody's done any other Cuban here besides Havana Rumba. You go to Miami and new Cuban restaurants open all the time. But that was what Fernando started [when working at Havana Rumba years ago] and a lot of people have interest in it."
Dinner will cost $120 per guest, with a cap of 60 guests per night (so make sure you make your reservation ASAP: 502-333-0376
