We see you appreciate a good vintage. But there comes a time to try something new. Click here to head over to the redesigned Louisville.com. It's where you'll find all of our latest work. And plenty of the good ol' stuff, too, looking better than ever.

Nothing against the Kentucky Derby Festival, it just dominates calendar listings this time of year, eclipsing some other great events.

In addition to this list, there's also a bunch of environmental stuff you can do in belated honor of Earth Day.

University of Phoenix Louisville Job Fair and Career Coaching Day
    April 24, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    University of Phoenix, Louisville Campus
10400 Linn Station Road, Ste. 120
Usually this space is reserved for cultural doings, but with the economy in the doldrums, this event might be helpful for you. Plus to enjoy art fairs, wine sales and even road races you usually need to have money. According to this article in Business First, about a dozen companies are participating, including ones in the telecom, healthcare, information technology and business Industries. Good luck if you go.

Grand Opening of the Sports and Social Club
    April 24, 6 p.m.
    Sports and Social Club
    427 S. 4th Street
The Sports and Social Club's grand opening doesn't advertise any drink specials or door prizes, just the opportunity to "toast Andy Varipapa, bowling's first ambassador and founder of the original Sports and Social Club," making it the perfect destination for those of you who've run out of people to toast. The S&SC advertises a "world-class menu," which features international delicacies such as quesadillas (it's pronounced "kay-sah-DEE-yahs"), crispy Asian salads and pepperoni pizzas (confirming my long-held belief that anything marketed with as "world-class" isn't). Head back to the Sports and Social Club at 12 p.m. Saturday for its First Annual NFL Draft Party.

    Cherokee Triangle Art Fair
    April 25 (10 a.m. to 8 p.m.) and 26 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m)
Cherokee Parkway between the Castleman Statue at Cherokee Road and the Willow Avenue entrance to Cherokee Park
Now in its 37th year, the Cherokee Triangle Art Fair offers artists' booths, a children's parade, live music and a food court, in addition to a lot of cars in my neighborhood. If you go to the fair, do not bring your dog (they aren't allowed) and do not park in front of my driveway.

    Louisville Chorus' Haydn: The Creation
    April 25, 7:30 p.m.
    Beargrass Christian Church
    4100 Shelbyville Road
Joseph Haydn is my favorite composer not killed by the fictional Salieri. Now in its seventh season, The Louisville Chorus is celebrating "the Father of the Symphony's" bicentennial along with special guests BCTE, YPAS Concert Choir and the YPAS Philharmonia.

Poets Merle Backman, Maureen Morehead and Regina Buccola
    April 26, 4 p.m.
    Carmichael's Bookstore
    2720 Frankfort Ave.
I mentioned this poetry reading a few weeks ago in my article on where to celebrate National Poetry Month in Louisville. But with April coming to a close, I'll bet you're yet to commemorate the occasion. This reading by three Louisville poets marks a great opportunity to do so.
