The Junior League of Louisville (JLL) and Honorary Co-Chairs Jeanne and Stan Curtis are proud to announce the third annual charity event Two of a Kind at The Louisville Marriott Downtown – 280 West Jefferson St, Louisville, Ky., Saturday, February 14, 2009, 7:00 p.m. – 12 a.m.

The night will be in full swing with casino-style gambling for entertainment, live and silent auctions, dueling pianos, dancing, cocktails and savory sit down dinner.  Guests can revel in real casino-style games to benefit the League and our partner charities.

This year’s auction will give a lucky bidder the opportunity of the lifetime to have lunch or dinner with Hillary Duff. The location and date of the lunch or dinner is yet to be determined. In the Two of a Kind tradition, this year’s Gala will once again highlight and benefit a Louisville philanthropy.  As part of JLL’s five-year Be Fit Be Fine initiative, Two of a Kind will directly benefit Louisville’s  Blessings in a Backpack program founded by Stan Curtis and Hilary Duff.  The Blessings in a Backpack program provides six (6) meals to a school-age child for a weekend – three (3) meals each day on Saturday and Sunday.  More than 56% of JCPS students (58,000) are on the Federally-funded Free or Reduced Meal Program at their school, but they often go hungry on the weekend.  Blessings in a Backpack fills that weekend void and has demonstrated dramatic learning and behavioral improvements.

Two of a Kind proceeds will also benefit additional JLL Be Fit Be Fine programs such as the Run Wild! community fun run and wellness expo, the Health Summit, as well as numerous other partner charities and programs supporting the Junior League mission to support women, children, and families at-risk, including Gilda’s Club, Kentucky Cancer Program, Susan G. Komen For the Cure, Home of the Innocents, Habitat for Humanity, and others.
