Fans went crazy as Louisville native, Jennifer Lawrence, won Best Female Performance for her role as character Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games at the MTV Movie Awards last night. Though she was unable to attend the awards, Lawrence thanked her fans for voting for her via a pre-taped video message. Lawrence, who attended Kammerer Middle School, was born and raised in Louisville and acted in Shakespeare's Othello at Walden Theater at age 14. Lawrence then moved to New York to pursue her acting career.

Louisville Magazine jumped on the Jennifer Lawrence bandwagon early and profiled the star in 2010. Be sure to check out the profile from the December 2010 issue of Louisville Magazine here.

Lawrence is currently in Prague filming her new movie, The House at the End of the Street, a horror film which will be released on September 21st. In the film, Lawrence plays Elissa, a teenager who moves into a new house with her mother. Little does Elissa know, the house lies next to the scene of a brutal murder which took place only years before. Check out the official trailer for the film below.
