She has done it again, folks: local favorite turned Hollywood big shot actress Jennifer Lawrence has just received her second Academy Award nomination for her role as Tiffany Maxwell in Silver Linings Playbook
. She received her first nomination for the 2010 film
Winter's Bone
, but unfortunately lost to Natalie Portman for
Black Swan
.
This year, Lawrence faces off against some stiff competition: Jessica Chastain for
Zero Dark Thirty
, Emmanuelle Riva for
Amour
(at age 85, the oldest nominee for Best Actress in Oscar history), Quvenzhané Wallis for
Beasts of the Southern Wild
(at age 9, the youngest nominee ever), and Naomi Watts for
The Impossible
.
Silver Linings Playbook
received eight nominations in all, including potential wins for Best Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director (David O. Russell), Best Supporting Actor and Actress (Robert de Niro and Jacki Weaver, respectively), Best Actor (Bradley Cooper), and Best Picture.
The
85
th
Academy Awards Ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 24.
