Even during the 90’s, Jane’s Addiction never fit into the raging pool of alternative rock. While it was popular to dress sloppy and embrace heavy distortion in angst-driven, slacker themes, Perry Ferrell preferred to dress in drag. Naturally, it was their showmanship that separated them from the flannel-clad grungies of the decade, a trait that carried over from the late 80s-90s transition.
After an eight year gap, they took a gamble and released The Great Escape Artist, their first record as reunited band. Bassist Chris Chaney now joins them after performing scattered one-off appearances with the band during their uncertain break, but this was the only shift. Ferrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins have remained staples.
Local band Deer Meet, who’ve opened for some impressive heroes like Sebadoh and The Lemonheads, will also warm the stage for Jane’s Addiction. Show begins at 7:30PM. Tickets start at $38 and are available through the Louisville Palace box office and Live Nation.
