Internationally renowned composer, Jake Heggie (Dead Man Walking, End of the Affair) will come to Louisville to work with Kentucky Opera Studio Artists, University of Louisville vocal department and students at the Academy of Music at St. Francis in the Fields for the inaugural Composers Workshop Program.

Kentucky Opera General Director, David Roth says, “The Composer Workshop is a part of our initiative to turn Kentucky Opera into an incubator for opera on a national scale.  By bringing in contemporary composers like Heggie, we are able to give our Studio Artists an experience they are not likely to be able to replicate any where else.  In the future, this program will offer our students to work through their pieces before they are premiered.  This also opens the possibility for Kentucky Opera to premiere new operas, making a win-win environment for all parties.”
