It’s almost Filson Bourbon Academy time again, and if you miss this one your next chance won’t happen again until Derby time.
March 1 at the Filson Historical Society, Bourbon Historian and Bourbon Hall of Fame inductee Mike Veach will lead an eight hour class delving into the history of bourbon in Kentucky. Bourbon tastings will also be offered. You can purchase tickets here.
According to this article from the always-in-the-know Bourbonblog.com, a typical Filson Bourbon Academy schedule might look like this:
“Session 1: The Origins of Bourbon Whiskey
Session 2: Tasting Bourbon
Session 3: 19th Century Bourbon
Session 4: Tasting Tennessee Whiskey and Rye
Lunch Break
Session 5: Early 20th Century Bourbon and Prohibition
Session 6: Tasting Single Barrel and Small Batch Bourbons
Session 7: Post Prohibition to Present
Session 8: Blind Tasting and Graduation”
This is a great event, and you must attend if you have the time. My friends The Bourbon Guys braved the recent Polar Vortex to attend a session up in Northern Kentucky. You can see their review here.
