It's no secret that tens of thousands of locals and tourists will be stumbling drunk through Churchill Downs and the rest of Louisville this weekend. It's Derby weekend and Louisville isn't going home until the sun comes up. Having too much to drink is expected, but driving home or getting in a car with someone who is driving drunk is not. Here are a list of services to call if you need a ride home, to dinner, or anywhere in the Louisville area after your Derby fun.

New services that you can access on your smartphone are now available in Louisville just in time for Derby:

    Uber

Recently launched in Louisville, Uber X is a low cost way to safely to get your destination. They have an application that allows you to access and provide your location and destination to be transported via your smartphone. The vehicles that will transport you vary from a Toyota Corolla, Ford Explorer, and Kia Forte. The base fare is $2.50, $.30 per minute, or $1.40 per mile. Minimum fare is $5 and there is a cancelation fee of $5 (so don't be a jerk and call and then decide to stay to Churchill Downs for "just one more drink")

    Lyft:

Also recently launched in Louisville, Lyft is a friendly, affordable ride whenever you need one. Users can download the application on their smartphone and request a ride with the tap of a button and get picked up by a driver within minutes. The application auto-locates you and give you access to track your drivers estimated time of arrival. You can also auto-save your credit card information, so that the application bills you and you do not have to have cash on you. Just look for the pink mustache and your "lyft" will be there!

    Cab Services:

    Yellow Cab Louisville:

Yellow Cab Louisville is one of the oldest taxi cab companies in Louisville and has proudly provided service to Louisville since 1893. This Derby (May 1-4), they are providing service from 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. These rates apply for rides between restaurants/nightclubs and hotels/motels. The rate brochure can be viewed here and the rate map can be viewed here. You can contact them here. They have an app for smartphones, in which you can easily access by texting GoLouCab to 31996. AAA Taxi Cab

Around-the-clock pick ups and reliable 7 passengers seat vans are available for you and a group of friends to get picked up from Derby or Churchill Downs this year. What is better than being in a huge van with six of your closest friends inebriated out of your mind trying to get the driver to take you to the closest White Castle? Not much. AAA Taxi Cab offers service to all neighborhoods of Louisville and rates vary per trip. You can call them for a quote at 502-225-4901.

    Ready Cab

Ready Cab is available 24 hours, so if you do fall asleep at Churchill Downs you can call them once you regain consciousness and they will still be out and happy to take you home. You can also reserve a cab in advance, for the canny, pro-active drinkers. You can make your reservations here. The first mile or less begins at $4.31 and rates vary following the fourth rider. There is a metered fare and you can view the full list of rates here. You can call them at 502-451-4114. Churchill Downs has developed a new plan for taxi cab and bus drop-off and pick-up of Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks Day patrons. This plan includes Bus Depot and Taxi Depot.

    Taxi Depot

Located adjacent to the Wagner's Pharmacy building at 4th and Central, Taxi Depot will be available for pick-up and drop-off of patrons at Derby and Oaks Day.

    Bus Depot

Located immediately outside of Gate 1, Bus Depot provides an expanded area for the unloading and loading of buses transporting Churchill Downs visitors to-and-from parking lots at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, the Kentucky Exposition Center and shuttle locations in downtown Louisville. T

his lot will allow patrons to get in and out of the vehicle easily and away from traffic.

Any general questions and parking and transportation can be answered at the Kentucky Derby's website.
