There's really nothing quite like being me.  Others may be richer, more popular, probably definitely better looking, healthier, more athletic, more artistic, cooler, better off spiritually, and adored by the masses in general, but I just got to kick off at 2:30 to drink a beer and write an article about it, so who's laughing now?

Today's brew was the 5 Day IPA from O'Fallon, a small brewery near St. Louis, Missouri.  O'Fallon's claim to naming this beer comes from the fact that they add whole dry hops to the finishing tank so that the 5 Day IPA rests on the hops for five extra days.  I noticed off the top that this beer pours a beautiful burnt orange color, reminding me that Fall is just around the corner.  The head pours rather thin and dissipates quickly, which never gives me a ton of confidence going in.  Aroma wise I was expecting a bigger floral blast, but was surprised to find a milder hop fragrance.  As I dove into my first sip I was unsure what to expect, but it came across as a milder beer than I anticipated with a relatively thin mouth feel and a hop bite that is more of a hop peck.  It's not a bad IPA, as a matter of fact it's a pretty drinkable IPA and one that would be a good introduction to someone who's not familiar with the style or someone who isn't a big hop head.  Beeradvocate.com gives it a solid B+ while Ratebeer.com tosses a score of 87 it's way, both reasonable scores.  At 6.1% ABV and 66 IBU's this is one IPA that you can have a few of before you're ready to cause some ruckus.  It's one of O'Fallon's everyday flavors, so you should be able to find it at most liquor stores with a better than good beer selection; I picked my bottle up at Old Town Wine and Spirits on Bardstown Road.

If you want to see what other shenanigans I get into on a regular basis follow Lville Beer on Facebook, Twitter, & Foursquare and check out the video below for a glimpse of how my brain works when thinking of clever beer article titles.
