In the midst of tragedy; a beautiful reminder of human determination remains, as a result of hundreds of photographs. “Here Is New York” is an exhibition of approximately 500 photographs taken by the citizens of New York, following the September 11 attack on the World Trade Center. Displayed in a vacant storefront these photos serve to remind New York and the world that we as a people are strong, resilient and resourceful. The collection is at the Main branch of the Louisville Free Public Library from September 1st to the 30th. This marks the 10th anniversary of the New York tragedy.
“Here is New York” is making its third appearance at the Library here in Louisville. Courtesy of the New-York Historical Society; they arranged the first exhibit in 2002 and a second time on the fifth anniversary of the attacks. A book, “Here is New York: a Democracy of Photographs,” including the collected photos, is available at the Louisville Free Public Library.
