To kick off Louisville's new composers series, 21c presents Hear + Now. The evening will feature the album release of Book of Leaves by Rachel Grimes, followed by Chamber and Electronic works by Daniel Gilliam, Lou Moseson, Sara MacLean, Malcolm Turner, and Jacob Gotlib.

Book of Leaves is the first solo piano album by the musician and marks a new level in her artistic evolution. Inspired by the interaction with the outdoors, Book of Leaves is a collection of impressionist chapters woven together with chordal themes and field recordings. Grimes, a member of Rachel's, has been a guest on albums by the Frames, Sonora Pine, Tara Jane O'Neil, Shannon Wright, Shipping News, and has performed numerous times with her solo piano work. She has recently completed a residence with SITI Co. at Columbia University and is currently finalizing the full album with King's Daughters & Sons due out this fall.
