Have Moon Pies And Moonshine At Oxmoor Farm
    Print this page

The Filson Historical Society puts on some great events, from The Filson Bourbon Salon at Oxmoor to wonderful historic lectures.  If historical lectures aren’t quite your style, why not check out the Moon Pies and Moonshine picnic at the beautiful Oxmoor Farm this summer?  Nothing says summer quite like a picnic full of dancing and yard games!

The annual event is held in the shadow of the beautiful home on Oxmoor Farm, tucked away behind the Oxmoor Mall.  If you’ve never been there before, you would never know it even existed.  The long, tree lined drive leads to a beautiful historic home.  It is truly an inspiring setting.

The event includes moonshine tastings, a fried chicken dinner, a moon pie eating contest, and live music from The Juggernaut Jug Band.  Tickets are only $20 for Filson members and $25 for non members.  There will also be a history lesson about the historical aspects of distilling and yard games for the whole family.

Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs, as seating is quite limited.

Limestone Branch, Kentucky Peerless, and Boundary Oak distilleries are providing moonshines for tasting.  Two tasting tickets are included with admission.  This will be the inaugural event for Louisville’s newest distillery, Kentucky Peerless, which will be fully open and operational just a few weeks from now.

Mark your calendars for this unique, old-fashioned annual picnic.  It’s an opportunity to learn history in an historic setting while having a great time with your entire family.  Click here to purchase tickets.
