Before moving to Louisville, I thought that Cold Stone or perhaps Blue Bell (I am a Texas girl, after all) had the market cornered on being the “World’s Best Ice Cream.” However, even before I officially made the move to Louisville, I had discovered the local favorite, Graeter’s. It was recommended that I first try the Black Raspberry Chip flavor. It is creamy, not overly raspberry-y, and has enormous (yes, enormous) chunks of chocolate embedded within. Eating it is like dying and going to ice cream heaven wrapped in a sweet, creamy, bright purple concoction!
Graeter’s is famous for many of its old fashioned French Pot-churned flavors. It offers a plethora of traditional flavor selections, as well as much-anticipated seasonal favorites; Peach in the Summer, Apple Cider and Pumpkin in the Autumn, Egg Nog in the Winter.
Although I have not tried even half of the flavors yet (the Black Raspberry Chip always seems to relentlessly call my name whenever I visit one of their ice cream parlors), I am now a true believer in the deliciousness that is Grater’s ice cream. Graeter’s is my favorite. It is my father’s favorite. It is my neighbor’s favorite. It is my dog’s favorite. Heck, it is even Oprah’s favorite! How can you argue with that?
You can visit one of Graeter’s Ice Cream Parlor locations or purchase Graeter’s Ice Cream from Kroger.
