Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing will celebrate “100 Years On the Ohio” with a historical timeline event representing the years 1765—1865 on Saturday, 16 and Sunday, May 17 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both days. Visitors to the site will see historical re-enactors demonstrating the tools, weaponry, clothing and cooking of the various periods represented. Admission to the site is $6/Adults; $5/Seniors; and $3/Children per day. A family rate allows two adults with up to 3 children to enter for $15. Admission includes a tour of the centerpiece of the property, the historic Farnsley-Moremen House (built 1837). This event is being held in conjunction with the Falls Landing Foundation, Inc.
Scheduled activities for the event include: morning and evening parades, period fashion shows, military tactical and artillery demonstrations, period musical entertainment, a speaker’s series on historical topics and presentations by re-enactors portraying important historical figures like Abraham Lincoln, George Rogers Clark and Frederick Douglass.
Other event highlights include: re-enactors portraying Ohio River pirates, a Colonial period wedding ceremony (takes place at 11:00 am on Saturday), a Regency Tea House sponsored by the Jane Austen Society (on Saturday only), blacksmithing demonstrations, hearth cooking demonstrations, and tours of the re-enactor camps. Food vendors serving modern fare will also be present both days.
Directions to Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing from Downtown Louisville: Take I-65 to the Gene Snyder Freeway West. Go approximately 9 miles. Take a left at the stop light onto Lower River Road. The entrance to Riverside will be on your right after about an 1/8 mile.
