Every summer of my childhood my dad tried to persuade me to play golf.  And every summer I would give up because I was terrible and it was too darn hot to hit the ball 30 times and still not make it to the hole! Too bad we didn’t have Golftober.

Golftober is Metro Parks’ fall family golf special. Every weekend afternoon in October, a family of up to four can play nine holes at any Metro Parks course for only $20. The price includes greens and carts fees and is available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday after 4:30 pm.  Make sure to call ahead of time to book your tee time.

With this deal, you can introduce your kids to a life-long sport while the temperatures are cooler and the courses are less crowded.  By the time 95 degrees creeps up on them next summer, they’ll be too excited to notice the heat (much).  And if the kids still don’t want to pursue golf, you’ll only be out five bucks a person.  That’s cheaper and better exercise than a trip to the movies.

Take advantage of the deal at Metro Parks’ 9-hole courses in Cherokee, Crescent Hill and Waverly Parks or their 18-hole courses at Iroquois, Long Run, Seneca, Shawnee, Sun Valley and Charlie Vettiner Parks. If your kids decide golf is for them, Metro Parks’ courses are open seven days a week from daylight to dark, and private lessons are available from a PGA Professional at each course’s clubhouse.

For more information or to set a tee time call (502) 456-8134 or visit Metro Parks’ website.
