Solo home runs from Todd Frazier and Zack Cozart, and solid outing by starter Chad Reineke, lifted the Louisville Bats to a 3-1 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in front of 7,404 fans Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.
The Bats (21-25), who have won eight of their last 11 games, took three of four games from the Yankees (27-18), who entered the series in first place in the International League North Division.
The game was scoreless until the sixth inning when led off with his sixth homer of the season. One out later Cozart hit his sixth long ball of the year off Scranton starter Ivan Nova (2-1).
Louisville added another run in the seventh when Wilkin Castillo walked with two outs, stole second, then scored on Michael Griffin's double.
That was more than enough for Reineke (2-3), who gave up just three hits while striking out three over seven innings in only his third start of the season. Jesus Delgado pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief, giving up a run in the ninth, before Logan Ondrusek came in to get the final two outs of the game and earn his first save of the season.
The Bats now get a welcomed day off - their first since May 5 - Wednesday before beginning a four-game series against Gwinnett. Left-hander Aroldis Chapman (4-2, 3.98 earned-run average), who missed his scheduled start Tuesday with a blister on his finger, will start at 7:05 p.m. Thursday night against the Braves.
