This Wednesday, November 26 (the day before Thanksgiving!) Four Sisters, Heart & Soy and Roots will be offering free food for their annual Customer Appreciation Day!
Huong "Coco" Tran, who owns Heart & Soy and Roots, is a Louisville restaurateur who doesn't get enough attention. She opened the first Chinese take-out restaurant in Louisville in 1980 (the Egg Roll Machine) followed by Cafe Mimosa, one of the first Vietnamese restaurants in the city, then Zen Tea House. Since 2001 she's raised over $50,000 in donations during these Thanksgiving Eve dinners benefiting various charities.
While a donation isn't required, it's encouraged because come on, you're getting free food! This year, customers' gifts will benefit Waterstep (working to provide clean drinking water to those without), the Humane Society, Hand in Hand Ministries (working to provide education and healthcare to low-income communities) and Compassionate Service Society.
So get some free food, and give back to your community! The restaurants will not be offering up their whole menus for free but will have various options available: Four Sisters, for instance, is offering a chicken bahn-mi sandwich and curry soup, with a vegan friendly option available.
