I wasn't sure what I was going to be faced with the first day of the Forecastle Festival. I was expecting to have to park miles away and trudge through muddy, grassy spaces to get a gander at rows of vendors selling their wares and fighting crowds to get up close to the bands scheduled to play. I was happily proven wrong when we were able to find parking within a several block radius of the venue. Being pregnant, I gave a quick prayer of thanks to the parking gods. There was a small wait at the ticket stands but the crowd was decent. The weather was perfect, the sun was bright and there were tons of great things to see. I was particularly interested in some of the local green booths. Above is a photo of a structure we entered designed to show ways that one can green up ones home through household products, solar panels and geothermal heating/cooling systems.
With todays festivities well under way, it's still not too late to try to grab a ticket and head out to get your fill of eco-education, fun, food and musical vibrations.
