Historic Frankfort Avenue will host a F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop on Friday, February 27th from 6:00pm to 10:30pm. The F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop, on the last Friday of each month, provides FREE parking and transportation to participating shops, restaurants and galleries along the Frankfort, Mellwood and Story Avenue corridor. Transportation is provided by TARC.
Special activities happening during the F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop on February 27th are:
·Kaviar Forge & Gallery, located at 1718 Frankfort Avenue, will host free fire-breathing performances by Aaron Morris at 7:00pm and 8:00pm and will display visual artist T.B. Jackson-Williams’ exhibition Bits & Pieces: A Culture of Scrap.
·At Eyedia, located at1631 North Mellwood Avenue, the public is invited to meet Tori Murden McClure and see her boat, the American Pearl, from 6:00pm-8:00pm. McClure was the first woman to row across the Atlantic in 1999, after Hurricane Danielle halted her first attempt in 1998. Her book A Pearl in the Storm tells the harrowing tale of the crossings and what she learned from her experiences and arrives in bookstores April 7th. Carmichael’s Bookstore will pre-sell copies of the book at Eyedia ($25.99) and McClure will sign book plates.
·The Mellwood Arts Center, located at 1860 Mellwood Avenue, will host an opening reception for this year's Kentucky Derby Festival poster artist, Jeaneen Barnhart, in the Pigment Gallery. She will have new works and giclees, which are offered at fantastic prices.
·Elizabeth’s Timeless Attire, located at 2050 Frankfort Avenue, will feature “The Beginning of Spring” collection: vintage clothing and jewelry.
F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hops are sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, Maker’s Mark, Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards and the Mellwood Arts & Entertainment Center, along with more than 40 local sponsoring businesses on Frankfort, Mellwood and Story Avenues.
