    Event Description

One of the Derby Festival’s oldest and most anticipated events is the Fillies Derby Ball, to be held Friday, April 20, 2007, at the Galt House East Grand Ballroom. This event caps the opening day of the Derby Festival and is a prelude to two weeks of exciting activities.

The highlight of the Derby Ball is the coronation of the Derby Festival Queen, to be selected by the traditional spin-of-the wheel. Barbara Davis, 2007 Fillies President, will do the honors. In her first royal act, the Queen will "knight"  individuals to the Court of the Pegasus for their contributions to the community.

The 2006 Fillies Ball theme was "An Enchanted Evening."  Following the pomp and ceremony hosted by George Lindsey and Lynda Lambert of 102.3 The Max, guests including the Mayor, Governor, and a who's who of local business enjoyed live music and dancing.

"This is such a wonderful event.  It combines the excitement of the coronation with a fun evening of dinner and dancing for everyone in attendance," said 2006 Fillies President Marian Wilbers. "Could there be a more regal way to open the Derby Festival?"
