
Frankfort Avenue hosts their monthly F.A.T. Friday trolley hop with a “Halloween Hop” twist on Friday, October 30th from 6:00pm to 10:30pm. Businesses along the Avenue will be adorned in Halloween decor and will give away free candy and treats to children.
The F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop, on the final Friday of each month, provides free parking and transportation to participating shops, restaurants and galleries along the Frankfort, Mellwood and Story Avenue corridor. Transportation is provided by TARC.
Special activities happening during the F.A.T. Friday “Halloween Hop” on October 30th are:
• Carmichael's Bookstore and The Wine Rack are partnering with Maker's Mark for a special book signing and sampling from 6pm to 9pm. Susan Reigler will be signing her just released "Kentucky Bourbon Cocktail Book" which retails for $14.95. The signing will take place at The Wine Rack, 2632 Frankfort Avenue, and weather permitting, the event will be held in the courtyard. A special sampling of one of the Halloween cocktails from the book will be available to those over 21 years of age.
• Conez and Coneyz, located at 2716 and 1/2 Frankfort Avenue, will give away free mini cones to all children dressed in costume.
• Eyedia, located 1631 Mellwood Avenue, will be celebrating its 5th birthday this month! They will have snacks including birthday cake, give-a-ways, and music by Paul Petty.
• Gallery Janjobe, located in the Mellwood Arts Center, will host an opening reception for Myths, Fairy Tales and Spirits, a show about beliefs and interpretations of the world we can't see, imagined or real.
• It's All Greek To Me, located at 2716 Frankfort Avenue, will host belly dancing performances and free belly dancing lessons.
• Kaviar Forge & Gallery, located at 1718 Frankfort Avenue, will host an opening reception for Figuratively Speaking, a exhibition featuring limestone sculptures by Daniel Gimbel. Also on display is No Place: Utopian Images, paintings by Kerri Horine featuring Death Masks and Skeleton kites. Aaron Morris will be breathing fire at 7:30 PM with a second performance at 8:30 PM. Admission to the gallery is free.
• Margaret’s Consignment, located at 2700 Frankfort Avenue, will host refreshments, live entertainment by Michael Roy and a book signing by Bob Muller with Hosparus. At 7:30pm, a Halloween Costume Contest will be held, with prizes given for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place winners.
• The Mellwood Art Center, located are 1860 Mellwood Avenue, will host several exhibitions including Sensuous Subtleties by Jeaneen Barnhart, the debut of Katharine Hatcher's The Girls of Glass, paintings by Joseph Leggot, and the St. James Court Art Show Scholarship Exhibition. There will also be live music in the courtyard by Crushed Velvet and Day of the Dead public altars in memory of two artist that have passed away – Bill Christie and Jen Furtell.
• Porcini, located at 2730 Frankfort Avenue, will serve Pumpkin Martinis and Pumpkin Cheesecake.
• Spot5 Gallery, located in the rear of Clifton Art Supply at 2044 Frankfort Avenue, will host “Haunted Head-Quarters,” a Halloween art show that will feature black-lighting and artistically embellished wig heads mounted throughout the gallery. For more information call (502) 594-1483.
• Third Lutheran Church, 1864 Frankfort Avenue, will hold their annual Children’s Halloween Party starting at 6pm. There will be games, candy, refreshments and cookie decorating on the front steps of the church and the parish house next door.
• Varanese, located at 2106 Frankfort Avenue, will have live jazz from the Jeff Sherman Trio, as well as drink specials featuring innovative martinis with Finlandia Vodka's newest flavor - Tangerine.
