Last night's 2nd annual Butterflies & Bling runway show was inspiring, to say the least. The evening's recipient of the event proceeds - Heuser Hearing & Language Academy - brought several of their adorable students to strut their stuff on the runway. It wasn't long before the audience's collective "awwww" turned to "ohhhh" as the runway show kicked off to series of work-wear pencil skirts and fitted blazers. All worn by Heyman models with 5" stilletos, of course.
Bill Blass lead designer Jeffrey Monteiro made a special appearance both on the runway and earlier in the day alongside special items from his Spring and Fall 2011 collection (available at Glasscock) at the specialty "Butterfly Boutique" prior to the show. One of the most popular pieces in his current collection is a red blazer with a silky white lining and refined gold buttons. This piece illustrates his ability to expertly mix feminine draping with just the right amount of tailoring.
Similar jackets were included in the runway show, which boasted over 140 looks ranging from sequined ball gowns to a collection of easy fall looks with a focus on Russian-inspired fur headpieces and heavy jackets nipped at the waist. The guests sipped wine and nibbled their desserts while the the DJ turned out beats that had the Henry Clay a-bumping. Gift bags were at every seat and many of the guests went home with Quattras designer art jewelry from the boutique prior to the show.
This event wouldn't have been possible without the combined genius of Todd Calvert of In C'Inc Marketing, Mary F. of Glasscock, and Jacob Zimmer of Zymage along with the evening's many generous sponsors (5/3 Bank, Yum! Brands, and many more.)
